For any building emergency, call the Building Emergency/Security Line and/or 911. If you feel you need assistance in evacuating the building, please contact your local Building Security staff or 911.
Medical emergencies
- Approach the patient only if safe to do so.
- Do not move the patient unless absolutely necessary.
- Provide first aid and AED assistance only if trained to do so.
Fire
If you discover a fire:
- Evacuate the building immediately via the closest available exit.
- Pull the closest fire alarm on your way out.
If you hear a fire alarm
- Evacuate immediately from current location.
- Do not go back to desk for personal belongings.
- Do not open doors if they are hot.
- Use stairs only. Do not use elevators.
- Proceed to the closest area away from the building and parkway where emergency vehicles will be arriving.
- Do not re-enter the building until the all-clear has been given
Tornado
- In the event of an extreme weather condition such as a tornado, seek shelter in the lowest interior location away from glass. These locations include interior meeting rooms, stairwells, restrooms and basement areas.
- Elevators are not to be used due to the potential for power loss.
- An all-clear announcement will be provided when it is safe to return.
Earthquake
- Duck and cover your head until the shaking stops.
- If possible, get under your desk or workstation work surface.
- Do not evacuate the building unless instructed to do so by first responders or facility staff.
- Stay clear of windows and other heavy, unstable objects.
Shooting
1. Evacuate if it's possible and safe to do so.
- Have an escape route and plan in mind. Know the location of at least two exits in your area.
- Leave your belongings behind.
- Keep your hands visible.
- If possible, call 911 and provide:
- Location and number of shooter(s).
- Physical description of shooter(s).
- Number and type of weapons held by shooter(s).
- Location and number of known victims at the location.
2. If evacuation is not possible, hide out.
- Hide in an area out of the shooter’s view.
- Block entry to your hiding place and lock the doors if possible.
- Silence your cellphone and/or pager.
3. As a last resort, protect yourself. Take action.
When law enforcement arrives:
- Remain calm and follow instructions.
- Put down any items in your hands (i.e., bags and jackets).
- Raise hands and spread fingers.
- Keep hands visible at all times.
- Avoid quick movements toward officers or holding on to them for safety.
- Avoid pointing, screaming or yelling.
- Do not stop to ask officers for help or direction when evacuating.
